31 Universities, 302 attendees, 9 Competitions
Purdue AITP selected 12 club members to compete for prizes and IT glory in the inaugural USITCC. The conference consisted of 4 components: Competition, Career Fair, Tech Talks/Seminars, and Exploration!
Competitions
The 9 competitions offered were Database Design, Network Design, Business Analytics, Mobile App Development, PC Troubleshooting, Systems Analysis & Design, Microsoft Office, Application Development, and Security. Competitions were 4 hours in length and all were performed in teams of two except for Security and PC Troubleshooting. Students were permitted to use the Internet and outside resources to craft their electronically submitted solution. Getting help from anyone outside of the team was prohibited.
Career Fair
Students had the opportunity to speak about internship and job opportunities with recruiters from companies such as USAA and Accenture. Companies handed out swag, interviews, and great advice! Winners of competitions definitely caught the eyes of companies attending!
Tech Talks/Seminars
The conference also provided our students with learning opportunities from experts in the computing industry. Interesting topics covered included Business Transformation and Data, Project Management, Courageous Leadership, Cyber Warfare, and Global IT Perspectives.
Exploration
We plan group activities to get the most out of our excursions across the U.S. Our group visited The Alamo, cultural festivals, and river-front restaurants. We also took a boat tour of the San Antonio River Walk. Visiting San Antonio during its Tricentennial was amazing! Yes, we go to compete and learn but we also go to have fun!
