38 Universities, 360 attendees, 9 Competitions

A team of 15 was selected to represent Purdue AITP to compete for prizes and IT glory in the 2nd annual USITCC! The conference consisted of 4 components: Competition, Career Fair, Tech Talks/Seminars, and Exploration!

The 9 competitions offered were Database Design, Network Design, Business Analytics, Mobile App Development, PC Troubleshooting, Systems Analysis & Design, Microsoft Office, Application Development, and Security. Competitions were 4 hours in length and all were performed in teams of two except for Security and PC Troubleshooting. Students were permitted to use the Internet and outside resources to craft their electronically submitted solution. Getting help from anyone outside of the team was prohibited.

Career Fair

Students had the opportunity to speak about internship and job opportunities with recruiters from companies such as State Farm, Accenture, and Brooksource. Companies handed out swag, interviews, and great advice! Winners of competitions definitely caught the eyes of companies attending!

Tech Talks/Seminars

The conference also provided our students with learning opportunities from experts in the computing industry. Interesting topics covered included Interviewing at the Next Level, Allies in the Workplace, Building Your Killer Personal Brand, and Unleash Your Soft Skills.

We plan group activities to get the most out of our excursions across the U.S. Our group bicycled on an 8-person bike along the beach, built sandcastles, dined at numerous local restaurants, chilled in our resort's pool/hot tub, and much more! We also attended a Houston Astros baseball game that ended on a walk-off home run! Yes, we go to compete and learn but we also go to have fun!
